New? Start Here!

new_start_hereMy name is Allison and I’m always on the move with my family (hubs, two busy boys, a baby girl, and a defeated Border Collie). We’re originally from Seattle, spent a stint in Ireland, lived the dream in Silicon Valley, and ended up right back where we had started: Seattle.

I started this blog because a friend of mine wanted some baby advice. I figured that if I was going to spend the time to write out all of my ideas for her (and, let’s face it, I have a LOT of ideas), I might as well put it out there so others could benefit as well.

I use this space to explore topics in parenting, teaching, travel, adventure, and the learning I do along the way–with a good dose of my own random thoughts on faith and life thrown in there.

My first post was written in 2012 when I was in the throes of mothering two babies under the age of two. I was exhausted so, naturally, I decided to take on another “baby”: a blog. Once I started blogging I realized that my writing was a way to connect with people and accomplish something that was bigger than myself, two things that I desperately needed as a young mom!

My most-read post to date is a love letter that I wrote to my son on his first birthday. Nearly 40,000 people have read this post–What can I say? A mother’s love is worth reading about!

My post with the largest single-day readership is this post that I wrote in 2013 about one of our favorite Easter traditions. Every year during the days leading up to Easter I continue to get thousands of hits on this post!

And, while I love all of my posts, this post has got to be one of my favorites–because Momming is hard work, but it is the best work.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
